Issue 10:06 THE CACTUS PATCH June 2007

BCSS Graduates

Long time members will recall two of our younger members, Paul Skillin and Jenny Cooley. Both were active in the club. As hard as it is to believe, they have now graduated from High School and are on their way to college. Rob & Terry Skillin are sending Paul off to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to study engineering while Stephen Cooley & Doreen Schneider will be sending Jenny to San Diego State to study Music.

The club wishes them Good Luck!

Club Library

Our new librarian is busy inventorying the club library and would like to ask the members to check to see if they have any library books at home. Please bring them to the next meeting so that our inventory can be complete. Also, she is anxious to have everyone discover all the great books that are in our library.

Wind Wolves Preserve

Work party dates: June 9.

Hospitality

If you have enjoyed the nibbles that we have at each meeting, why not consider helping out and bringing in some. There is usually a sign-up sheet at each meeting (Though we’ll eat it if you bring it and don’t sign up).

Membership in the Bakersfield Cactus & Succulent Society costs $10 per year for an individual and only $15 a year for a family. This extraordinarily reasonable price not only includes twelve issues of The Cactus Patch but entitles you to participate in club field trips to far-off (out-of-town) and exotic places (more exotic than Bakersfield). You will also receive a nifty name tag that will be your ticket to the members only plant raffle held every meeting featuring the best plant from the raffle table! All this is in addition to the wonderful programs and people at the meetings.
