Let's try to decide at the meeting if we want to go to SLO in early December or in 2007.

Rose Quartz

September 30th Jack & Sidney Kelley led members of BCSS & the Rock & Mineral Club on a field trip to Greenhorn Mountain and beyond, in search of rose quartz. It was a beautiful early autumn day along the gravel roads of the Southern Sierra. Some shrubs changing to yellow added to the scenery. The Kelleys had to take a detour to Kernville for an auto part, so their outing was a little further than the rest of ours.

Mary Carrisalez & friends, Linda Cooley, Bill & Lynn McDonald were among the rock hounds. The quartz is very hard & so several of us satisfied our needs by selecting stones from the ground. We saw a few deer who had thus far eluded the many hunters. There were quite a few elderberries ripe & we picked a few of those as well.

Thank you Sidney & Jack.
